about

About The Music:

In October 2014, Falcon's Eye Theater at The Harris Center For The Arts began working on a production entitled Anon(ymous) written by Naomi Iizuka. I was asked to compose all the music for the play which would begin showing in early November that year. Over the next two months I worked to write and record a body of music that would compliment the production with ethnic, atmospheric, and at times haunting tones.
The manifestation of this music opened me up to a number of different sounds and influences and profoundly affected my writing style. I am forever grateful for this unique experience and the inspiration left in its wake. Anonymous remains the only album of its kind which I have ever written, as well as my most quickly written compilation.

About The Play:

Naomi Iizuka's Anon(ymous) is a modern adaptation of Homer's The Oddyssey.

"Naomi Iizuka’s “Anon(ymous)” reimagines the mighty Odysseus, not as a king but as the collective American immigrant. He’s Anon, the most downtrodden of men, but made to encounter equivalently colossal obstacles in his enduring search for home. A new home.

While immigration is one of the most polarizing political issues of the day, Iizuka’s epic poem is as timeless as America itself.

People of all races, religions and ethnicities have always come here to escape persecution; to seek a better life for their children. Anon is one of those children, long ago separated from his mother by a shipwreck after fleeing their war-torn native land.

As an adult, the nameless Anon becomes every political or economic refugee who ever gave up a piece of his identity to blend into the melting pot.

And became anonymous."
